2026 NJ Election Deadlines & Dates

Primary Election –

  • Last day to register - May 12

  • Last day to request a Mail-In Ballot - May 26

  • Early In-Person Voting - May 26 - May 31

  • Election Day - June 2 polls are open 7am – 8pm

General Election –

  • Last day to register – Oct. 13

  • Last Day to request a Mail-In Ballot – Oct. 27

  • Early In-Person Voting - Oct. 23 - Nov. 1

  • Election Day - Nov. 3 polls are open 7am – 8pm

County Clerks and Boards of Elections listed in the drop-down are responsible for all Elections and County administrative services.

Election oversight:

  • Processes Vote by Mail Ballot applications

  • Maintenance of vote by mail lists

  • Preparation of voting ballots including sample, emergency, provisional, overseas and Vote by Mail

  • Acceptance and verification of county, school board independent municipal candidate petitions

  • Preparation of petitions required for candidates running for county, municipal, and school offices

  • Maintenance of county committee lists for Republican and Democratic parties

  • Collection of election results

  • Conducts the official canvass of votes

  • Provides the Secretary of State with election results to be certified
