2026 New Jersey Election Information
General - Nov. 3, 2026
County Clerks and Boards of Elections are responsible for handling our elections. They also design and print Sample Ballot and Vote by Mail ballots which you can view on their websites on or around September 19.

Election oversight and responsibilities:
Processes Vote by Mail Ballot applications
Maintenance of vote by mail lists
Preparation of voting ballots including sample, emergency, provisional, overseas and Vote by Mail
Acceptance and verification of county, school board independent municipal candidate petitions
Preparation of petitions required for candidates running for county, municipal, and school offices
Maintenance of county committee lists for Republican and Democratic parties
Collection of election results
Conducts the official canvass of votes
Provides the Secretary of State with election results to be certified
